How-to Add A Recipe
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Decide if your recipe should go in Mouthwatering, Heathy, Super Healthy, Special Diets, or Canning and Preserving. Click on that category in the side bar. A new page will load.
2. Select the category your recipe should go in. Remeber the exact name of the category you select or jot it down because you'll need to know it later. You can click on the category, but it saves a step to type your recipe in the box at the top of the page and click on "Add recipe."
The editing page will load.
3. On editing page:
a.) Highlight the words "Highlight these words and Post ingredients here" and list all the ingredients.
b.) Highlight the words "Highlight these words and post directions here, leaving a space between each step" and list the directions, leaving a line space between each step.
c.) Fill in number of servings, prep time (if known), and nutritional values (if known)
d.) Fill in your name beside "Posted by" if you want people to know you posted the recipe.
e.) Click on "Preview" at the bottom of the page and check your recipe to be sure amounts are listed correctly, no ingredients or steps were left out, and spelling is correct. Click on "Save." Your recipe page will load.
4. At the top, click on "+1" in the rating box at the top to start your recipe off right with a rating of "1." Of course, you don't have to do this, but if you're going to take the time to post a recipe, why would you not?
5. Go to the bottom of the page and click on "+options." In the grey box that appears under it, click on "parent."
6. Remember that I suggested you remember or jot down the category ? Here's where you need it!
a) In the box, type in the overall category you decided to put your recipe in. Your only choices are: mouthwateringrecipes, healthyrecipes, superhealthyrecipes, specialdietrecipes, or savingforthewinter (typed exactly as they are typed here).
b) Add a colon (:).
c) Type in the category you remember or jotted down, but use all small letters and "-" between the words. For Example, "Chicken And Other Birds" becomes "chicken-and-other-birds" While you are typing it in, a grey box will appear and you can simply click on the correct category in it to complete it. If that grey box does not appear, something has been typed in incorrectly and will have to be corrected.
d) Click on "save parent page".
DONE! To add another recipe, go to the categories again, select one, click on it, and do these steps over. I know this sounds complicated, but after five or six recipes, it becomes easy!
